About
ECC
In keeping with the Jesuit philosophy of holistic development, every student of St. Xavier’s College is required to earn compulsory non-academic credits in the form of ‘ECC hours/points’ over the course of their undergraduate programme apart from the mandatory academic credits.
Under the non-NEP system, students must earn 2 credits. For students of the regular Science stream, these 2 credits amount to 40 hours whereas for students of the Arts and self-financed courses, these 2 credits amount to 50 hours.
Under the NEP system, ECC is a 6-credit program which is mandatory for the completion of the undergraduate program, each student must complete 30-40 hours/points of ECC activity in the second, third, and fourth semesters.
The ‘ECC Committee’ comprising of a dedicated team of faculty members and students, helps facilitate the completion of these ECC hours/points.
